...I'm spending the first few days of the year - now that everyone is back to work, college and school - putting my workroom to rights. I'm nearly there, but I have a tricky problem of what to do with my threads. Most of them are currently in colourways - same colour different types of threads, some are mixtures of colours but in the same type of thread. Dilema!
Do I spend time putting colour sets back to type or put the types into colourways?
How do you store yours?

Happy New Year Alison. I store my threads by colour but I store machine threads separately from hand embroidery threads. I'm still looking for the perfect method of storing threads so that you don't end up with a great tangle of ends!
Happy New Year Alison, what a task! i'm very unorganised and store my machine threads in an old nail box and in a drawer as i ran out of room, other threads are spread through 4 containers, some plastic others basket. you have got me thinking now! perhaps I'll put it on my 'TO DO' list! but how?
Happy New Year Alison! I have a box like this http://www.mawdsleywilliams.co.uk/products/aplaceforeverything/13. My machine embroidery threads are stored on a rack/stand of 'spindles' which kind of closes and locks the spools into position, also made by David. I store my threads by colour and when I am working on a particular project select from these colours and use a basket or box on my worktable; then put them all back into colour boxes when project is finished. Gosh, I sound really organised, but I've found this works for me. With best wishes,
Not sure if link worked:
