My machine embroidery threads are stored on a rack/stand of 'spindles' which kind of closes and locks the spools into position, also made by David. I store my threads by colour and when I am working on a particular project select from these colours and use a basket or box on my worktable; then put them all back into colour boxes when project is finished. Gosh, I sound really organised, but I've found this works for me.
