Big Thank-you

A big thank-you to Lyn for sending me these postcards, which were waiting for me when I returned from my holiday. They are reference material for Module 5, so if this isn't a spur to drive me on to complete Module 4 in record time, I can't think of anything better.

It is amazing that it has been over a month since Urchfont. Someone on another forum was asking what Distant Stitchers do regarding holidays as Students based at a college have to take a break as the Tutor is away and the college closes. Well I like to take a holiday with the children and any needlework done tends to be of a quilting nature. I am about to give the workroom an end of Module general tidy ready to start again on Monday 8th Sept, once the Little darlings have returned to school.

Return of the...

Very Tired Son!

Son has been on the Isle of Wight for the week on a school trip - it has been very quiet at home as I haven't shouted once! It's the same when Daughter is away so I can only conclude when my Children are together "it's Merder".

On returning he showed us his souvenirs of his trip - a hat, a pencil sharpener and a collection of postcards and produced his gift for me...

This lovely limpet shell that looks like it's been topped like a boiled egg and I'm so pleased!

He knows me so well and this means alot to me. The creative juices began to flow so no doubt it will become a work of art - His only stipulation is that it is not to be covered by fabric and some of the shell should be showing. I'll add it to the list of stuff to do!

Snail Mail to Cheer Me Up

Laid low on the sofa yesterday with the cold, watching movies amd feeling pretty sorry for myself, I was cheered up by the arrival of two letters from America - reminds me of a song by The Proclaimers - The first was from Susan Lenz, CYBER FYBER, with her postcard and ATC which I had put my name to. This made me put machine into action today to finish the postcard I had put together but had yet to sew together. Hopefully I shall put them in the post very soon.

Susan's postcard 7 and ATC 116

My Postcard for Susan's exhibition being held next January

My next letter was from Jennifer, Infinitely More Monkeys blog, who spured me on to give the workroom a good clean! Jennifer has been showing photographs from a pile she found in an antique shop in Chicago, Illinois on her blog and I happened to comment on them. She kindly offered to send me some and here they are safely arrived.

There is something sad about photographs without a family to own them. It has got me to thinking as to what will eventually become of the albums I have made once there is no-one to know who we are. These photos will be given a good home and I will think of the people and wonder what became of them. I'm not sure when it will be done... but I have an idea of incorporating the photograph images in a piece of textile art.
